Ex- National Football League Star Antonio Brown Enters Not Guilty Plea in Attempted Murder Trial

One-time NFL player Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to address an murder attempt allegation stemming from a gunfire that took place in May, as his attorney submitting a not guilty declaration on his behalf.

Jail records in Essex, New Jersey, show that Brown was discharged on Tuesday morning for his transfer to Florida. Brown, a highly popular figures in the National Football League, had forgone transfer to Florida from New Jersey, where he was held after being taken into custody in Dubai.

Brown’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, mentioned in an communication that he has previously filed a written innocent plea to the murder attempt accusation. Brown could be in a Miami courtroom as early as Wednesday morning for a bail proceeding, Eiglarsh stated.

Based on his apprehension warrant, Brown is alleged of grabbing a pistol from a safety employee after a celebrity boxing event in May and firing a couple of rounds at a person he had fought with previously. The claimed individual, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, stated to investigators that one of the bullets scraped his throat.

Eiglarsh said that Brown was only defending himself from Nantambu.

“The measures he was forced to take were solely in self-defense against the alleged individual’s aggressive actions. Brown was targeted that night and responded within his rightful entitlement to defend himself,” Eiglarsh stated.

Brown was not promptly detained because initially police did not recognize Nantambu as a target. It wasn’t until afterward in May that Nantambu gave a full account about the event to police and identified Brown as the perpetrator, the report says.

According to his online posts, Brown had been staying in Dubai for multiple months. In a message after the incident, Brown claimed he was defending himself because he was “assaulted by multiple individuals who attempted to rob my valuables and bring physical damage to me.”

A category two attempted murder accusation in Florida imposes a highest fifteen-year prison sentence and up to a $10,000 penalty in the case of a guilty verdict.

Brown has faced several legal challenges over the years. He earlier had been alleged of battery of a truck employee, multiple domestic violence charges, failure to pay child support and further occurrences.

In a 2021 season contest with the Buccaneers against the New York Jets, Brown took off his uniform, equipment and handwear and left the field, leading to his release by the team and practically concluding his professional career.

Brown, who had 12 years in the league, was an top-tier wide receiver who passed the majority of his tenure with the Steelers. For his professional life, Brown had 928 catches for more than 12,291 distance, the 28th highest of record. He was a seven-time Pro Bowl choice.
