19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former coach Cervara.
Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's maiden championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.
Victory also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
His counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.
Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.
The opponent rescued 4 initial opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.
Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
